How to Play

It's relatively easy to master the musical spoons and, with a little practice, you can quickly become quite adept at accompanying voices and instruments.

Striking method

Playing musical spoons

1. Hold the handle of the spoons in one hand.

2. Strike the spoons alternately on the knee and on the inside of the opposite hand, which is open with fingers together.

3. The hand that the spoon strikes can vary the sound by completely or partially blocking the resonance box upon impact (for models with an open resonance box).

4. The most diverse rhythmic variations can obviously be applied to this pattern.

2. Slide the spoon claws over the slightly open and rigid fingers of the opposite hand, producing a percussion each time a claw strikes a finger.

3. This method requires a bit more practice but allows for faster and more varied playing.
